Finally! First blog for Elder Brandon Lance

Even though Brandon has been serving since July 8, 2014, this is the first blog I've done in his behalf.  The blog set up apparently was too hard for me to figure out until I actually sat down to do it.
Brandon loved the Mexico City, CCM. He picked up the language quickly.... or so he thought.  When he got to San Jose, and taught his first lesson, the investigators were speaking half English and half Spanish, Spanglish. When they jumped from one to the other he had a harder time keeping up.  He has gotten a little better after being there a few months.  Instead of trying to catch everything up since he left, I will just post every week with an update.  :)

One Investigator that we have is named Alex. he is the one that got married that was in the picture. He is 20 years old and has a wife Brenda and a little daughter Michelle. We set a baptismal date with him last night with his little niece for the 15 November. we are going to try and move it up a little so that elder barlow can be in the area for the baptism. Rosio is another investigator that we have. She is the Sister of the relief society president of our ward. She has a date set for the 15 November as well. Antonio is a relatively new investigator that we have, he cleans the house of the stake patriarch and thats how we met him. He really wants to get baptized, and reads the BoM by himself. Kinda cool. we had a lesson with him yesterday at the patriarchs home which was awesome. Elmer is a guy that is from El Salvador. We taught him the first lesson, and i invited him to be baptized at the end. He said yes, and I didnt know what to say. no one has ever said yes right after the first lesson. Ania is the daughter of a less active member in our ward whos name is Miguel Serratos. The only reason why he is less active is because he is literally working himself to death. he is the night manager at home depot, but gets four hours of sleep a day if he is lucky. He is probably one of the hardest working men I have met out here. Luis is our Neighbor, which i dont really know what is happening with him. He's interesting. Other than that there is a ton of less active members that we go and teach, that are starting to come back around. Thats basically it.

Brandon writes, " So far nothing has really changed. We are working with a less active family who came to church for the first time in 6 months. The missionaries that baptized them were stupid. They were living together, have children, have no plans to get married, he smokes, but they still baptized them. Mario is coming along smoothly, his only problem is that he thinks that because there is only one god, that all roads lead to him basically. so it doesnt matter what church you go to. So he thinks that they are all true. He will get baptized one day. Other than that we are still teaching the same people. Rosio is super solid and we think she went to church while she was out of town. which is awesome.  Also Elder Bednar is coming to our mission and meeting all of us!"

He didn't have a lot of time to write today. His day was spent doing service. I asked him about how Halloween was when serving a mission.  He said, "We had to be home by 7pm no exceptions, kind of dumb. Our week was crazy busy, but we didn't really see anyone.  Transfers are next week and Elder Barlow is probably gone.  Then I'll probably be gone in 3 months."
